Whereas,
[one night]
As she bit her lip;
like so,
And killed him dead;
like so,
His soul came to light
As to a-glow.
-Perhaps, he said to himself:
Yes, I am happy,
Perhaps this is silly,
And this is
[like it or not]
true:
If I make you blue;
If I didn’t kiss the way you do;
If this cloud is not for us;
I’ll simply let you go
(unfinished poem by ignoramus)
Medyo nahirapan ako sa ginawa ko. Perfect example na ng repeating-redundant (ika nga ni Noime ) iyang poem na yan. Puwedeng puwede na pagtawanan ni Ms. *Potterologist* at ni Mr. You’re so stupid, diba?
Ngunit marahil subalit datapwat (ika nga ni XienahDiosa), eh matuto tayo gumalang sa prosa ng iba. Ayon sa wikipedia :
“…redundancy is considered a vital feature of language. It shields a message from possible flaws in transmission (unclarity, ambiguity, noise). In this way, it increases the odds of predictability of a message’s meaning”
At
“All of these forms of redundancy can be used intentionally, for positive artistic or rhetorical effect, frequently for humorous purpose, and for a number of other non-manipulative purposes, so their appearance in speech or writing is not automatically a fault. For example, duplicative language used as parallelism can have a strong rhetorical effect.”
at ginamit ni
Gertrude “Rose is a Rose is a Rose is a Rose.” Stein
sa kanyang poem na Sacred Emily, which appeared in the 1922 book Geography and Plays.
O diba?
Di pa ko tapos.
I think that writing should be provocative. Wag matakot kung redundant ka. Imbis na redundant, tingin ko eh nagko-cross-over ka (go kobe), I mean: You’re going beyond prose.
*Basically* and/or IMSO, (in my smug opinion) ang Bussines English ay para sa mga ordinary ( to all call-center people out there - again, pardon me.) na tawagin nalang natin sa codename na just-to-get-by-people. *Perhaps* school taught them, rather, to be dull users of the language than to think big (in terms of literature). Wala na atang gusto maging magaling at sumikat sa buong mundo. Pinoy talaga. O sadyang ignoramus lang ako? hahaha.. Wag matakot sa maling spelling at wrong grammar, yan ang punto ko. At, magbasa kayo pag may oras. At shempre, pag magaling na kayo, wag manlait ng gawa ng iba. Kunin niyo ang mga general ideas. Yun na yon.
* = did you know section
*Truly* - did you know that Bill Gates hate that word? Explanation niya kasi na if X= to what you are saying and Y=truth , and if X=Y, then why do you have to add “TRULY”.
Ayon Basic.
*Perhaps* - Such a humble word. It occured to me that the word “Perhaps” is used more often by intellectual people. Like the likes of (redundant, shet, ambobo ko talaga.)
*Potterologist* - Taga check ng spelling ng nouns ni JK Rowlings kasama ang ilan pang editors at proofreaders. Nobody’s perfect kasi.
1. Dr. Edward de Bono
2. M. Scott Peck (The Road Less Traveled)
3. Paolo Coelho (o illusion ko lang… hahaha)
Naging blog review post. hehehe..
That’s all folks.
Lesson: “Reading should be objective as writing should. And when you write a comment, don’t be so vainglorious. Humility is the best policy (wahaha.. pointless).”
